Songs and Praise

2008 Easter Concert

This Easter concert was special.  It was a different approach from the usual concerts that had been presented by the Choir & Orchestra of The Apostolic Faith mission, U.K. in that it was organised as a “Grand Choir” which involved the audience in some of the special pieces rendered.

It opened to the strains of “Crown Him with many crowns”, and over the next hour had the audience spell bound.  It painted a tapestry of the journey of our Lord through the garden of Gethsemane all the way to the cross and the borrowed tomb.  It took the listeners finally to the crescendo of the triumphant resurrection – the hope of all Christendom.

Each scene was introduced by a snippet that linked the scene before to the new one unfolding.  This innovation of introductions led the listener gently but compellingly through the fascinating developments of this great example of humility and servant-leadership.

Testimonies reflecting the redeeming power of the blood of Jesus shed at Calvary and the goodness and abiding presence of the Lord during testing times, illnesses and other great challenges of life as well as the implication of his death in our lives today were sprinkled throughout the concert.

The joy of Easter is of course muted while we remain in this world. The final joy of Easter will be to rise as He has risen on that day when all believers shall be gathered to meet the redeeming Saviour in the skies. “He lives, and so shall I!”
