Easter celebration in Leicester

Celebrating the Death and Resurrection of Christ in Leicester - 14 - 16 April 2017

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1
The above verse proclaims the mutual desire that we, whom our Lord calls His brethren may dwell together in unity while we await His coming for us!  There is no better way and time to enjoy sweet fellowship other than Easter season, a special time in our Christian calendar. A time to reflect upon our faith, gather in community, and worship and praise our Lord and be reminded of the renewal of our hope through our Lord's resurrection. We were blessed in Leicester to commune on Friday and Sunday (14 and 16 April 2017 respectively) to commemorate our very first Passover as a branch in 2017.
Our meeting venue was on 2 Kirby Road, Fosse Road Central, Leicester. This is home to Little Cubs, a children's nursery run by our Sister Candia Malone. We thank God who put it in her heart to kindly open the Little Cubs' doors to play host to these special gatherings. She reminds us of the story of a prayerful and God fearing woman named Lydia in the Bible. She served the Lord and hosted Paul at her home on his second missionary journey in Philippi. Surely the Lord will reward the fervency of our Sister's desire to be hospitable.
On Friday 14 April, we had the Bible Study on Living Holy - Holiness in our Actions. Focus scriptures being Psalm 101:1-8; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Peter 1:13-16 and 2 Peter 3:10-14. We learnt that God will never ask us for something that is not for our good. He therefore expects every true believer to lead a clean life.  A farmer is in trouble if he yokes an ox and an ass together. These animals pull differently; they do not work well together. So a believer cannot be found equally yoked with an unbeliever. Our Lord thus obligates us to purity of life, to holiness, to separation from evil. We owe our allegiance to Him alone, and we cannot allow ourselves not to be a fit vessel for Him to live in.
Our Adult Sunday School lesson was on the title "On The Road To Emmaus" (Luke 24:1-48).  There were two men, one of which was named Cleopas, who had been followers of Jesus. They had just witnessed the crucifixion and it completely affected their hearts. So Jesus suddenly appears to these two men as they were walking to Emmaus from Jerusalem. They were sad. They were down hearted over what has happened. And their faith was seriously in jeopardy. But as they were walking, Jesus came up behind them and appeared to them to be just another person on the road leaving Jerusalem after the Passover. Vs. 16 says that their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. God's Truth is revealed in scripture, and Jesus is the manifestation of that truth, the Word of God. So when they saw the truth of scripture, they would see God. Their eyes were closed until they believed in the word of God.
We thank God, for in our church; emphasis is placed on the authority of scripture. Scripture is preached word by word, verse by verse. The two men took advantage of the opportunity presented by the visitation of the Word. They begged Jesus to stay with them so that they could hear more of what He was teaching them. They had a hunger for truth. These men seized the opportunity of Christ's availability, and they received a blessing. Thank God for He paid the price on the Cross and arose on the third day for us all, that our hope in Him may be renewed. We love the message of the Cross and Christ's resurrection.
