Songs and Praise

Evening Revival and Evangelistic Service from Birmingham

As our prayer for the month of January comes to an end, God orchestrated a befitting evening revival and evangelistic service to reassure us of His promises in this new year. The service was honoured by the presence of the regional overseas of Portharcourt, Nigeria, Rev. Edet Bassey. We had anticipated his arrival and the turnout was evidence of this.

As is the usual practice, it had been planned for the service to hold in the prayer room. We started the service in there by singing some congregational songs which was followed by an opening prayer from Rev. Isaac Adigun and then announcements by Rev. Mark Mfandarawa. The next item was a choir song but at this point, we realized the room was not enough to contain the number of people that came and as a result we were advised to move into the main auditorium where the choir song was sung and testimonies of the goodness of God was shared. It was evident that people were hungry for the Word.
The visiting minister, Rev. Edet Bassey, led us to the account of the thief on the right side of Jesus while He was on the cross in Luke 23:39-42 with the focus on verse 42 where the thief said "Lord remember me". He expounded with examples of people like Hezekiah who God remembered when he was threatened by Sennacherib and Hannah who had difficulty conceiving a child. As he spoke of God's promises, the hall was continually filled with resounding Amen. By the end of the message, the congregation rushed to the altar benches with hope that the God that remembered the people in the days of old is still the same today! He visited us at the altar as members prayed down the Power of God which is a testament that God indeed remembers the church of Birmingham.
