Christian Standard and Sanctification

It will not do any harm for us to examine ourselves as to whether we are sanctified, for sanctification is going to prepare us for the coming of the Son of Man. We could not get sanctified if we were not first justified; and neither would we be ready to meet the Lord without the baptism of the Holy Ghost, if we have had the light on it. And we cannot get the baptism of the Holy Ghost unless we have been sanctified. So after all, it seems that sanctification is a great part in this wonderful Gospel. It is something that the devil hates above everything on earth. It is an experience that seems to be so hard for people to retain and keep in their lives. When people have had this experience robbed out of the heart, it is so easy then when things come up to say, "Well, I am tired, or I am nervous, or I am this or the other." They say that, when real traits of carnality are manifest and the wonderful experience of sanctification has been lost out of the heart.

It is so easy for people to excuse themselves and try to make themselves believe that they have it when it is really gone. It is a sad thing, because it would be so much better for us to really know the truth and go down before God and have Him reclaim our hearts and put this experience back into our hearts, if perchance It has been lost.

Paul and the different Apostles were constantly warning the people, holding before them the necessity of knowing just where they stood, and if it was necessary in the beginning of the Latter Rain Gospel in the days of the Apostles, it is more necessary in the last part of the Latter Rain Gospel.

In the 17th Chapter of John, beginning at the first verse, we read:

"These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee;

"As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that be should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent."

So much rested on their believing and knowing that Jesus was the Christ. It is easy to let a little doubt enter the heart: and I believe there are many shipwrecked in faith today on account of a doubt coming into the heart concerning the real power of Jesus Christ to enable them to live above sin. If we truly believe in our heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, if we believe that in our heart - not our minds - that belief brings the faith in the Son of God which enables us to accept His divine life and His power to enable us to live a Christian life. That belief in the heart is the thing that really counts, after all, and when we have it in the heart it is easy for us to believe the whole Word of God, the power of God, the grace of God, the faith of God; and nothing becomes impossible when we believe these things in our heart.

Doubt is the opposite of faith. Where doubt is lurking in the heart, faith is not there. The two are dust as opposite as light and darkness. when the light turns on, the darkness disappears. when the light goes out, the darkness comes; and it is just the way with doubt and faith. The minute that doubt comes, the faith goes. The

minute faith comes, doubt goes; the doubt cannot remain in the heart. The enemy goes about as a roaring lion, and also as an angel of light, to just slip into the heart of a human being, a doubt. All he needs to do is to just get a doubt into your heart concerning the Word of God-or concerning the Son of Wan and His power, and then the light goes out, the faith goes out. Just the minute that that doubt takes up its abode in the heart faith is gone. Oh, that God would put in every soul that unbundling faith and confidence in God that would cause them to believe Him and trust Him against every power of hell.

Satan is going out today much as he did when he came into the Garden. He is saying, "Hath God said? hath God said?" He doesn't come to you and say, "God never said. God didn't mean this, and God didn't. do that," but he just says, "Hath God said?" Then he leaves it up to you to answer; and something in that injection of the virus of Sate will cause you to first question, and say, "Well, I wonder if He did say. it. I wonder if God has power, after all, to do it." Hasn't that come to your mind a hundred times? ."I wonder if God will do it, after all I wonder if it is possible for me to live without sin, or live a sanctified life." That question comes. The moment that question arises in your mind .then doubt robe you. of the faith in your heart.. When the enemy comes to you' and says, "Bath God said?" you answer. and. say, "God hath said. God hath-said. I believe every word 'in that old Bible. I know that God hath said it  and it is true."

Satan came to. Jesus. He found nothing in Him. What was the reason?  Because God was in Him, that is true. But God plants in you what He     planted in the Son .of God, if you are a child of God. Satan took Jesus up into a high mountain and told Rim he would give Him all the kingdoms Of the world. That is the thing that people. want today, above everything else on earth. They want. to be well thought of, to be high in the eyes of the people.,. There are people who will just put their salvation on a bargain counter, just to get the opinion and the applause of the people. You don't need, to go beyond this church to find some of them. God Almighty knows that that very thing is uppermost in the hearts of the people today. They want to be praised; they want to be lauded to the skies;. they went someone to think they are somebody; they want someone to think they have more of the power of God than somebody else. That thing emanates from the flesh and the devil. ?het is where it comes, from. If that thing is in yak= heart, or there is a taint in your heart today that wants to try to make people believe that you are something, or that you are somebody or that God lass done more for you than He has done for somebody else,, you are a backslidden soul on your road to hell. It does not make any difference who you are, whether you are in the pulpit or taking-oar'. of the back door; it doesn't make any difference. God, Almighty hates that thing; He hates pride; He hates arrogantly; He hates that thing; and it doesn't dwell in the heart of a child of God. Don't you make any mistake. It doesn't dwell in the heart of a child  of God! The first, principle and the first fruits of a Christian is a humble and a meek spirit before God. Everybody gets it when they are born again. Do they lose it? If they lose it, they lose the love of God out of their heart. That's what they do.

Oh, that God would examine hearts.  That is the thing. We are not paid to get up here and tell you people these things today, but we do it because we love your soul, and we want God to get the beet of your life--; and if you do not get the hest in your heart here, you will get the second beat_ in eternity. But if you get God's best here, you will

Get His best over there. Just remember that. God Almighty has His best for those who want it. Many are satisfied with His second hest, but you can have His best if you want it.

"I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gayest me to do."

Those were the words of Jesus Christ.

"And now, 0 Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was."

It does the heart of man good to just ponder on those wonderful truths, that He was with the Father before the foundation of the world. Jesus was there. God said, "Let us make man," God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost. There are people today who are trying to do away with God the Father, just making it all in Christ: leaving God the Father out, and the Holy Ghost out. That emanates out of the very pit of hell. It is a delusion of the last day, and Just as much so as the people who deny sanctification as a second, definite work of grace. I thank God for the old rugged truth of God's eternal Word. They can come with their pretended manifestations, they can come with their shaking and their gibberish, their talking in what they call tongues, and all of this manifestation that they claim is of the Spirit, but I say, on the authority of God's Word, it all emanates from the devil. When anybody takes a portion of that Scripture and does away with the fundamental principles of the Gospel, the Holy Ghost does not dwell in that human being. I don't care who they are or where they come from, and I am not afraid to brand the thing of the devil. That's where it belongs.

I tell you, we are living in the last days, and you can hook your little cart to some of that stuff if you like, and go to hell with the rest of them; but I would rather slake my life en the eternal Word of God, stand on that old Word, and spill every drop of blood in my body for the truth of that Gospel.

I happen to be one among those who received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in the beginning of this Latter Rain Gospel in the City of Los Angeles, and I have seen a few things from that day to this. Don't you .ever doubt it. I have seen preachers go down on the right and on the left. I have seen them fall in line with crooked doctrine, false manifestations and sell their birthright for a mess of pottage; but I have also seen the great God of Israel protect this Latter Rain Gospel, hold it steady. God Almighty is back of it and He is going to pilot a few of us through to the pearly gates as we stand on the old lines. That is how we are going. Not through some new manifestation and some wonderful demonstration of the flesh. God hates the flesh but He loves the Spirit. He honors the Spirit. I want to tell you, I would rather have that old Word of God in my heart and know it was there, and could meet all the Goliath and the demons of hell that come up against this wonderful truth, that would rob us and steal away some of the fundamental truths of this old Bible, than anything else in the world. There are a few of us today who could go to the stake, and we may have to yet. We will do it, If need be, but we will never lower the standard of the Gospel.

"Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

"For I have given unto them the words which thou gayest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me."

Can we give any less to the people than the words that Jesus gave to us? God gave Christ the words. He gave them to His disciples. We have them today. What are you giving to the people? A lot of trash, a lot of manifestation, a lot of stuff that will just carry them over for a little while, when down, deep-seated in their heart is sin and corruption and the virus and malice, and all those things, hid away in the heart? When Christ plants the Word of God, the unadulterated Word and the Blood of Jesus in one's heart, a person becomes a wholesome, upright, true, holy, honest man or woman. Don't you want to know that the Blood of Jesus Christ Is upon your heart, that you are not harboring sin, covering up sin and side-stepping here and side-stepping there? Why, there is nothing so wonderful in all the world as a soul that is redeemed, that can stand out clear and look the world in the face -everybody they meet  with a clear conscience toward God and toward man.

God wants an honest, upright life lived out in the heart of His people. He wants it. He demands it, and He has a right to demand it. The honest, upright person is not making shady deals, not trying to pick his brother and sister to pieces, not trying to make trouble here and there, but everything is done in the Spirit, in law and order, according to God's Word. That is the thing God desires of His people.

"I pray for them: I pray not for the world, hut for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

"And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them."

Is Christ glorified in your life today? Ask yourself the question: "Is Christ glorified in my life today. Since I arose from my bed, from this morning up to this present hour, could Christ be glorified in my life?" Has there been things that you would not want anyone to know? God knows it; Christ knows it. God is watching over all. He knows every word that you speak; He knows every thought that you think. That is the most wonderful part about it. You don't even have to speak the things. When Jesus was here on earth, many times long before they spoke, He would look into the heart of those people and He could tell them whether or not they had iniquity in their heart. He knew the thing in the heart then, and He knows the heart today. Oh, that we would remember those things, that we would keep them uppermost in our mind, that God knows it all. He knows.

"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

Now if the Father does not keep them, they Are not to be one with Him. Now listen:

"Keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

Did you ever think that we must be kept, in order to he one with Christ?

"While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gayest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might he fulfilled.

'"And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. "I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them."

These are the words of Jesus. Don't forget. And if you are a real child of God, the world hates you. Just remember that, and if you are not drawing persecution from any part of this world, you can begin to examine yourself to see if you are a real child of God, for the Word says all that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. That Is the Word of God.

"The world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."

It is so easy for us to just get as close to the world as possible. I never see people come into this hall but what I have a chance to look, on it. The prevailing style of this world today is these low-necked dresses, and it seems that if there ever was a thing that was damnable in the sight of God, it is that thing, and you can see people come into this mission, and many that are our own people and have been for some time, and you will find them  they just get their neck as low as they can, just as low as they possibly can. They have so much of the spirit of the world that they haven't the thing in them sufficient to  dress themselves in modest apparel and decent, to say the least. That is all you have to say, for anyone that exposes their neck to the public and to the gaze of the world is certainly filled with the world, and the sin of the world is in that heart. It doesn't make any difference how they profess. Christianity will cause a woman to pull up the neck of her dress. When we go to these stores, many times I will come in the presence of some of those girls that are waiting on me, and the first thing they do, they begin to pull up their necks. The sinners will do that. What makes them? I don't say anything to them about their neck. Then why is it that the children of God haven't got the thing in them that would just naturally make them keep themselves. covered up? Because they haven't got the God of Israel in their heart. That is the reason. They haven't got Him in their heart. If it was in their heart, nobody would have to tell them to pin up their neck. The Spirit of the Lord would do that. It will do it. What is the use to fool about the thing? God Almighty says right here where the thing is. If the love of the work is in the heart, the love of the Father is not there. It is not there. The time was, a few years ago, that you would scarcely meet your own brother in the hall, going from the bathroom to your room, with a kimono on and your neck low. You wouldn't meet your own brother; you wouldn't meet those of your own household in that condition. What is the difference today? You can go on the street and meet the whole world with your neck down, way down. What causes that thing? It is the curse of the last days. That's what it is, and you tell me that any child of God that has God in their heart is going to have that thing abiding in their soul. I tell you no.

God will not permit a child of God to have the thing in the heart that will cater to the world and dress like the world because others do it. Is that sense? or is it not? It's Gospel truth. What we need is more real Gospel truth preached to us these days. Some people go on in their careless, indifferent way, and can just turn to the world and cater to the world, and they will get as close to the world as they can.

We don't expect our people to dress in some outlandish way that will make them the ridicule of the people. You can see that, by looking at any of us; but we do believe in dressing in modest apparel. We don't only believe in it, but when God comes into your heart, you will dress that way, in spite of anything. Your heart will make you do it. That is a little thing, but it is not so little, after all. It is not so little. Immodest dress is damning thousands of souls today, the curse of the age. There are some businessmen in this city who won't, allow the girls in their office with low-necked dresses, short sleeves, and short skirts; and they are sinners at that. It did my soul good because people think we are so narrow and so radical and so straight along these lines; hut we are no straighter than the Word of God.

"I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

Now they' were not of the world, before He ever prayed for them to be sanctified. Don't forget that. Before He ever prayed that prayer, He was telling the Father how that they were not of the world, that He had taken them out of the world, and that He was keeping them, that He had kept them through the Father's name. Now He says, "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." Now we don't need anything any more definite than that. They were not of the world, but He is praying that God will sanctify them through the truth.

"As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

"And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Now many say, "Well, wasn't Jesus sanctified?" He certainly was, but He was speaking of Himself being set apart. He was setting Himself apart, and how many times when we go to pray for an extreme case, or when there is a special thing on, how many times we say, "0 God, separate us, set us apart, that we might be able to pray the prayer that would bring the results that God desires." And while we pray, there is a setting of ourselves apart. Many people set themselves apart for special meetings, which they should do, and others set themselves apart and fast and pray that God might do some special healing, or do some special work. Many times we set ourselves apart for these special meetings. It was the same with Christ when He said, "I sanctify myself that they might be sanctified." It was His will that that Adamic nature, the carnal nature that was in those people, might be eradicated through the truth, through the Word of God, and He was the Word that was made flesh. His Blood was to be shed, and through that shed Blood, His people were to be sanctified wholly.

Oh, that God would help us to treasure the depths of the Word of God and these wonderful experiences that God has for us. It is a wonderful thing that here in this present world we can have these experiences wrought out in our hearts and our lives through the Blood and through the Word of Jesus Christ.

"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. "And the glory which thou gayest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

"I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."

Isn't that the most wonderful Scripture, to think that we can be one with Christ? In Hebrews we are told, "Both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren." There is something in sanctification, that setting apart, and that life hid with Christ in God that brings the oneness of the Father Into the heart.

When the Children of Israel came out of Egyptian bondage, God told Noses to take a lamb, and that that lamb was to be slain and the blood was to be sprinkled on the door posts and over the lintels of the door, and that the whole lamb was to be eaten. There was not to be any part of it left. !:any today will hold up a certain doctrine such es water baptism, and think through water baptism and joining the church, they are a Christian. But we are to take all the Bible doctrines, just as the whole lamb was to be eaten, and if one family was not large enough to eat this lamb, they must take another family, and the two or the three families must eat the whole lamb. The lamb is typical of the body  of Jesus Christ, which was made flesh and dwelt in this world for us, and we today cannot afford to leave a part of this Word out. It is all right to join yourself to the Church of the Firstborn, and you must be baptized, but you must be born again before you do either-in order to be a child of God-end not only to be baptized, but to take of the Lord's Supper and the washing of the disciples' feet, and all of the doctrines which Jesus taught in this Word  it all must be done.

You say, "Well, I believe in the Lord's Supper, but I don't believe in the washing of the disciples' feet." Well, you are just as much an unbeliever as if you were a Bob Ingersoll student. You say, "That's radical." Well, that's just what we are, just as radical as this old Word of God. You can't believe in one portion of this Bible and leave out the other without your name being taken out of the Lamb's Book of Life. You say, "What authority have you to say that?" In this Word of God. If you add anything to this Bible, God will add the plagues in this Bible to you. You take anything out of this Word of God, and God says that your name will be taken out of the Lamb's Book of Life. There it is, in black and white, the inspired Word of God. You must believe the whole 'Word and eat the whole lamb in order to have an entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. You say, "Those are non-essentials." There is nothing non-essential in this Bible, not one thing. And when that lamb was to be eaten, it had to be eaten. That's all there was to it. If a family had not eaten the whole lamb; they would not have gone out of Egypt. Do you believe it? I believe it with all my heart. I don't know any better than to believe the Word of God. And when the death angel passed over Egypt that night, there was not one child destroyed in the homes of those Israelites where the blood was upon the lintels of the doors, where the lamb had been eaten.

What was that lamb eaten for? That the Israelites might have strength not only to fulfill the commandment of God, but it gave them strength for the journey that lay before them. They went on, and God baptized them as
as they went through the Red Sear They came through on the other side;
and their rejoicing was wonderful. (See I Corinthians 10:22)

When the lamb was killed and the blood was upon the door, and they ate the lamb that was, typical of salvation. God led them out of Egyptian bondage, just as He leads you and me out of the sins of this world. When He saves your soul, He leads you out of the world. You loved the world, and the things of the world were the desires of your heart; but when God came in, you turned right about face. You started Heavenward. You left the things of the world behind, and if you have a desire in your heart for the things of the world after God has saved you, and you have lost the love of God out of the heart,' you begin to turn back to the things of the world, and when you look back, you become a pillar of salt. God takes the things of the world out of the heart.

Oh, that these experiences God has for His people would be wrought out in their hearts: He wants people to get the faith of God in the soul, get unbelief, doubt and fear removed, get the faith channels open, so that Fe can begin to work in their life. It makes no difference how weak, how trembling, how full of unbelief you are, if you will just open your heart, let the Word sink Into your heart, open the faith channels, get them cleared out, God will give to you the experience you need so much in your soul.

There is something in the natural heart of man that resists the Spirit Something there does not want the Word of God to cut down, but the Word is like a two-edged sword. It cuts both ways, and is a discerner of the  thoughts and the intents of the heart. The Word is that which will sever the soul and the spirit and the joints and the marrow.

A physician may separate every joint in your body. He can tell you, as he told a certain man in this place a short time ago. His elbow was hurt in such a way that the water ran out of the joint of the elbow, and he told him that his arm would be crippled, that he never could use it, that it would he stiff. He would not receive medical aid. He was working where he had to he taken where they had to look after it, on account of some of their affairs. He told the doctor that he would trust God, and the doctor said, "Well, you will have to get all of them Apostolic Faith people to praying, and have them to pray all day, and keen them at it, if that arm of yours is kept from being crippled and stiff)? And that man can use his arm today just as well as I can use mine. God Almighty can do things that the surgeons can't do.

I thought of a little boy who was carried to our home on a stretcher a short time ago, who had tuberculosis. They had taken X-rays and doctored that child. The prayer of faith was prayed over that child and he was taken hack to the doctors to examine him. The father did not believe in divine healing. We told them to just wait until the father came to take the child up to the doctor and he would find, when he examined the child, that it was healed. They took the child up and were going to have an X-ray taken of that child, and the man who was going to take it said, "There is no need to take an X-ray. That child is healed."

God is healing the sick, and God can do things that physicians say cannot be done. Just give Him a chance, and He will prove His mighty power. The surgeon can cut and divide to the Joint and the tissues. He can take the whole body to pieces, but there is one thing he can't sever, and that is the soul from the spirit. He can't do that. There is no earthly physician that can sever the soul from the spirit. They don't know what that is at all. That is foreign to them, but God knows, and do you know what does sever that? The Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit. That Word is the "Surgeon's Knife" which can take care of that. Oh, how you thank God that there is a make-up in the human body that the earthly physicians know nothing about. I have thanked God for that many, many times.

One woman I have in mind particularly, whom the doctors said would not live but a few hours, that she would have to die; and she was seemingly dying, when the ministers went in to pray. God healed her, raised her up. On account of the law, we have to be obedient to the law and call a physician in at such a time. The physician could not give her anything. He said there was no hope, there was no use, that she would not live but a little while. But sod healed her. God raised her up. There are places where God can reach that the human eye cannot touch or see or feel.

Oh, that we could Just realize that, just realize the power of God that can go down into the human heart, that can deliver the soul of everything that is foreign, everything that is of the world, the flesh and the devil, and can make you a living, walking monument to the glory and the power of God.

Turn to the 13th chapter of I Corinthians. The sanctified life is pictured ri fit here in the 13th chapter of I Corinthians.

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."

We have seen that Scripture fulfilled; we have seen it. There are People who are denying, the second, definite work of grace, people who believe s n the "one name" baptism, and believe in the "finished work of Calvary." We call them "one work" people, and they are people who hate us. You say, "Oh, but they love you. They love you; they talk about their love. " Well, they may talk about their love all right, but let one of them come into our midst, and when we talk to them about the second work of grace and what God does in the heart, they can get as mad as can be. There As a woman sitting  in this hall this afternoon that one of them slapped in the face because she was talking to her on this subject. I often think of that Scripture, "Though  I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity Move), I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."

'We have no fight against t people who do not believe the whole Word, hut we certainly have the thing in our hearts that will uncover a false and crooked doctrine. The love of God in the heart is above everything else, and you can talk with tongues all you like; you can do anything you like, but if you haven't the love of God in your heart, you are as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. There is nothing; there.

Some people think that manifestation is all there is to the Latter Rain Gospel. The manifestation is a very small part of it, I want to tell you. It is the life hid with Christ in God. That is the important thing.

"And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I an, nothing."

We have had people come into this place many times who have said, "I have a message for you. The Lord sent me with e message to you." We tell them we do not get our messages from people. We get them out of the Word of God.

Now think of this -

"Though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing."

Now that is speaking of having real faith. It certainly would be faith if some of us would step out here to this mountain and say to it, "Be removed." I expect everybody would fall down and worship such a person, almost, but God says if they have that faith and yet have not charity, it profiteth nothing. ,Sometimes people whom God has healed from a terrible disease lose the love of God out of their heart; and because they see somebody else who has not received their healing for that same thing, they Set kind of lifted up over the thing, and feel that they are somebody because they got their healing and someone else has not. Be careful, lest a worse thing come upon you. I tell you people, there is no place or reason to get lifted up in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Charity covereth a multitude of sins. That is God's Word.

"And though I bestow all my roods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.”

If you would see someone go out here and g:ive their body to be burned for the ,Gospel of Jesus Christ, you would say, "That is a wonderful thing." It would be. But if they had not the love of God in their heart  the charity that is spoken of in this 13th chapter of I Corinthians  it would profit them nothing to give their body to be
burned. Do you see how, after all, we are nothing in the sight of God? It is God in
us, the hope of glory, that counts. Oh, if we could profit by these things, and really keep them in our daily life, as we walk in and out before the people. We cannot exalt ourselves and allow the enemy to net in, as though God had done something for us that He has not dope for others, or as though God has blessed us above others. We feel, many times, that He has. Each person, almost, feels that there is nobody on earth that needed the power of God and needed the grace as he does, and God has .liven it; but he who has received God's grace is  not the person who gets a puffed-up spirit over it. He keeps humble In the sight of the Lord.

Now the Word tells us what love is:
