The Family
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. – James 5:16
Recently, a family member of mine faced a very serious health problem. She was expecting a baby and because of conditions that were not normal, it
had to be a Cesarean birth. After the birth, they found out that something was wrong—the baby could not move her head, arms, or legs. Not
only was something wrong with the baby, but the doctors also discovered that the mother had cancerous cysts on her ovaries.
We let our saved relatives, loved ones, and church family know, and together we called upon the Lord to undertake in the situation. So many prayers
went up on behalf of this young mother and her baby! As a result of that intercession, God intervened. After another surgery, she was told that
the cancer had not spread to any other areas of her body. Two doctors reviewed her medical report, and she was informed that she did not need chemotherapy.
The baby is now able to move her arms and legs and she is also moving her head more each day. Praise God!
Sometimes in life, we may go through trials in which we find it difficult to pray for ourselves. We may be physically unable, or even emotionally or
mentally burdened to the point that we need help just to make it through. That is when we can lean on the family of God! Their prayers and support
can carry us through some of the hardest times in our lives. Likewise, we will have the opportunity to help others in their times of need. Together,
we can help each other overcome.
We may not have many relatives serving the Lord, but when we became Christians, we joined the family of God. When someone in His family is going through
a hard trial, the others band together to pray for that one. What a blessing it is to belong to a family that prays for each other!
