A Sense of Security

Aug 15, 2021

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Soon after our first daughter was born, I realized we had been blessed with a very happy baby. She rarely cried and was
always full of smiles and giggles. As a matter of fact, the only time she really fussed was when she could not see me. If I sat her in a swing or infant
seat, she would be content to stay there and watch whatever I was doing, but if I left her line of vision, she would start to cry. It did not matter
to her that I was in the same room. She did not understand that I could see her and that I was close enough to attend to her needs at a moment’s notice.
Because she could not see me, her sense of security was threatened.

Has your spiritual security ever been threatened? Are there ever times in your Christian life when you have lost sight of God, so you presume He is not
there? Do you begin to doubt His presence because the obstacles in your life are blocking your view of the Father? Be assured that He is right by your
side. Though your vision may be blurred, He has you in His sight. He is never so far away that He cannot reach you by simply stretching forth His hand.

As our daughter grew older, she no longer had to see me to know I was there. She knew that because I loved her, I would be watching over her and tending
to her every need. The same should be true in our Christian walk. The longer we serve the Lord, the more we come to trust Him, despite what we see
or how we feel. The enemy will use the problems and trials of life to challenge our security and to make us doubt God’s presence. Yet, we can have
the assurance that He knows right where we are, and we can trust Him to direct us in the path He has planned for our lives.
