Delivered from Every Affliction

Nov 06, 2020

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. – Psalm 34:19

Everyone likes things to run smoothly, with no hiccups along the way. However, that is seldom the case in life. A few years back, I felt as though
I had a whole swarm of afflictions attacking me. I had suddenly found myself alone and in need of supporting myself. My bank account was very small,
and my problems seemed to get bigger and bigger.

One day, our well pump went out. If I wanted water for my children and myself, I had no choice but to take money out of my savings account and buy
a new one. Next, the refrigerator died. I did not have enough money left in savings to buy a new one, so I had to put that purchase on the only
credit card I had. Then my eight-year-old car began systematically to fall apart—from the battery and water pump on down to parts I had never
seen or heard of before! I had to be at work each day and had little extra time. Needless to say, I was feeling very overwhelmed by my mounting
afflictions.

I had very few resources of my own to fall back on, but I did have a faith and trust in God. Looking back on all of this, I am amazed at how the Lord
led me and helped me to get through all of it with no financial disasters. I was unable to prevent the problems from coming, but God was able to
overcome each one, and He did!

The word afflictions has a broad meaning of anything bad or evil. It could be caused by finances, relationships, issues at work, health concerns,
or any number of sources. Yet, regardless of where they come from, God can still deliver from them all. He may not answer the way we are expecting,
but He usually gives a better result than we thought possible. If you are troubled by some hardship, ask God for help. He will never forget you
or let you down when you place your trust in Him.
