In Line with God
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. – Ezekiel 32:7
My husband ran to grab his binoculars, and then he called for everyone to hurry outside the house to the deck. As I joined
him, dusk was seeping in and we could see the moon hanging above the field at the end of our street. A lunar eclipse was about to unfold and my husband,
an avid amateur astronomer, began to point out various facets of this natural wonder. He explained that a lunar eclipse happens only during a full
moon. As the earth aligns between the sun and moon, it intercepts the sunlight that would normally reflect off the moon, causing the moon to slowly
darken and then reappear. Everything has to be in perfect order. If the moon is too far to the right or left of the earth and sun, this event cannot
happen.
As I watched the last stages of this heavenly program, I stood in awe of our Lord and Creator. He had lined up everything perfectly so His wonderful display
could unveil itself. Thinking on this “heavenly line-up,” I pondered about being in line with God’s perfect plan for mankind. Just as the sun, earth,
and the moon need to be in perfect line for a lunar eclipse, so our lives need to be perfectly aligned with our Heavenly Father if we are to be effective
in His service. There may be one who needs a word of encouragement at just the right moment, or a hungry soul who needs to hear the story of salvation
in a time of desperation. If we keep our lives in the center of God’s will, His plan unfolds in us beautifully with an amazing “line-up,” and the results
are breathtaking!
Are we always in line with God’s will so that our lives can be used in His plans? Or do we occasionally leave God out of our daily plans, focusing instead
on our own agenda? May we always strive to stay in line with the Lord so that we can reap His blessings, have a hope of Heaven, and shine for His glory.
