Power Showers

Aug 12, 2021

And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. – Ezekiel 34:26

When it rains in the Midwest, it is not a light sprinkle. It is like water being poured out of a very huge bucket in
the sky. I recall taking advantage of those showers when I was a child. We did not have indoor plumbing where we lived, so we relied on a water pump
that was about eighty feet from the house. It had to be primed with water saved for that purpose. We made frequent trips to that pump when we needed
water to do laundry; take Saturday night baths in a big, round, metal tub; or just for drinking and cooking. When it rained, barrels were placed at
each corner of the house. It did not always taste very good, but it was water.

When those heavy showers came during the long, hot, sticky summers in Minnesota, we raced for our swimming suits and stood out in that warm water shower,
enjoying every drop. If we wanted a really good shower, we got out into the middle of the downpour. It was very wet, and so refreshing.

God promised His people “showers of blessing.” Not sprinkles of blessings or light rains, but showers! I imagine it like the downpours that I would stand
in as a girl, getting drenched from head to toe and loving every bit of it! We have experienced prayer meetings where those blessed showers from Heaven
began at one corner of the altar and swept throughout an entire building—that is what I call power showers! These are glorious and refreshing
times, when people receive power from God to work for Him.

If you are going through a dry spell with your prayers, it is time for you to experience a power shower. Put your umbrella down, turn your face toward
Heaven, and soak up the showers of blessing that God will send your way. It is His promise to us, and He will not come short on His Word.
