Are You Ready?

Oct 29, 2020

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment. – Matthew 22:11

One morning, I answered my phone and was invited to a “Come As You Are” breakfast. The party was to take place one week
from the date of the phone call, but I was to appear just as I was dressed at that moment!

Needless to say, if I had known I would be getting that call, I would have made sure I was dressed differently than I was! The pajamas I was wearing were
not too bad, but my robe was absolutely despicable. It was over ten years old and had seen much wear and tear. The chenille was not in good shape,
and I had even mended a hole in it with another color of material, as I had none to match the robe. Also, many of the tufts were missing from the back
where it rubbed against the chair I sit on at breakfast. Apart from my attire, my personal appearance was not that great either; my hair was not combed
and I had not yet covered up the “spots” on my face. Since I had felt lazy that morning and had seen no need to get dressed and presentable, I was
not a pretty sight.

Planning an event of such a nature was done in good fun among friends, and my appearance at the “Come As You Are” party will not make much difference in
the rest of my life. However, one day we will get an important call from Christ that will make the difference in eternity. To those who are clad in
righteous garments for the Rapture of the Church, He will say, “Come as you are.” Those who are not ready when He calls will be left behind. It could
happen at any moment, and there will be no time to “change clothes” after the Trumpet sounds.

We need to have on the garments of salvation, and keep them spotless white with the help of the Lord. If we watch and pray as Jesus instructed, we will
be ready when He returns.
