Gaining Freedom

Aug 06, 2021

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. – 2 Corinthians 4:4

The morning was very nice, so I decided to leave my garage door open to let it air out a bit. In the afternoon, I heard
some bird noises and knew that birds were in the garage. I figured that I had better get them out quickly before they decided it was a good place to
call home! As soon as I entered the garage, they all took off flying, but one flew in the wrong direction. While the others flew out the door, he flew
to the window at the opposite end of the garage. For a while I tried to “herd” him toward the door, but he just could not seem to understand. He flew
all around, and then back again to the window—all of this while one entire end of the garage was open for him! Finally, I went back into the
house and left him alone, thinking he would find his own way out eventually.

It was not long before the racket started up again. When I looked, I saw that another bird was on the other side of the window and they were calling to
each other. The bird in the garage kept jumping up against the glass, apparently thinking the result would be different each time. After a very long
time, the bird finally flew out the garage door and gained his freedom.

This episode reminded me of the years that some people spend struggling to be free and happy, when all the while, salvation’s door is wide open, waiting
for them to come that way. Those who are Christians may struggle with problems they cannot see a solution for, when all the while they are looking
out the window instead of going through the door Jesus has opened for them. To avoid that frustration, we need to be quick to seek God and see His
way—the only way to true liberty.

Do you feel like you are spiritually stuck on some problem and cannot seem to find your way out? God does not torment or trick us; He wants to set us free!
The door to liberty and real happiness stands open for all. Just walk through and enjoy your freedom.
