It’s All His

The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. – Job 1:21

From my heart I can say that everything I have belongs to God first, and me second. The house I live in, the car I drive,
the clothes I wear, the food I eat, and the money I earn are all from the Lord, and He can do with them whatever He wants. Sometimes this commitment
is tested. Once, my truck and camper were stolen, and my house has been broken into and robbed three times. I am so thankful for the love of God that
held me steady through those trying times.

The last time my house was broken into, the Lord surely protected me and gave me peace. As I started out for work that particular morning, I observed a
car with three men inside looking toward my house as I was locking the door. While I drove away from the house, I instinctively suspected that they
were going to break into my home. I drove a short distance and considered going back home, but something pushed me on toward my job. As I drove, I
asked the Lord to help me not to hate the men who were going to break into my house. I did my day’s work and returned home to find that, indeed, my
house had been broken into and cherished items had been stolen. The remarkable thing about the break-in was the answer to my prayer. My attitude was,
“The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.” I felt no distress or hate, only sadness for those who had stolen from me. I felt only praise that God’s
Holy Spirit had urged me on to my job rather than allowing me to return home.

Whether we have our possessions taken or we are attacked by illness or injury, we can rejoice in the fact that the Lord has promised to never forsake us.
Nothing happens to us without God knowing about it and allowing it, and He only allows things that can bring good results. Although none of us like
to feel violated, we can still have peace when the Prince of Peace is living within our hearts.
