Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. – Psalm 100:1-2

As a young Christian, I always enjoyed Christian music, especially Southern Gospel. I would turn it up so loud that I
could not hear my own voice, and I would sing at the top of my lungs. Enjoying good Gospel music has always blessed me, in hard times and in good times.

When I married, however, I discovered that my husband’s choices of music differed from mine. He preferred classical—quiet classical. After
hearing numerous comments on how loud my music was and how late into the evening it was being played, I eventually quit playing it. It was easier to
back off than to make an issue, and it was not long before I lost track of music and singing.

When a difficult time came into my Christian walk, a friend reminded me to sing, saying, “Play your music; play it day and night!” I started doing just
that, and before long I had touched the Lord, and healing was there for me.

David, the shepherd boy, harpist, king, and warrior, had a lot of experience in singing praises to the Lord. His life was filled with highs and lows, but
whether he was scared, rejoicing, perplexed, or grateful, he expressed those feelings through song. He also admonished us to sing praise unto the Lord,
to “make a joyful noise” and “come before his presence with singing.” He knew that music is a powerful resource to reach God and that it can help us
through nearly any situation. Down through the ages, countless others have found the same to be true, including me!

Music carries with it an attitude of prayer, submission, and worship. It helps our spirits to yield and commune with God. Are you facing a situation that
is overwhelming and you have not been able to find peace on the matter? Songs of praise can help you reach out to God, and receive what you need from
Him.
