Jesus, My Friend

Oct 06, 2020

There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. – Proverbs 18:24

There is no doubt about it—I am a tomboy. Many years ago, when I was a child with two older brothers, I discovered
how wonderful that could be. They were not just any brothers, but two very special friends. You see, when the neighborhood boys came over to play ball,
my brothers included me in their games. I have memories of playing marbles, climbing trees, going horseback riding and to the favorite fishing spot.
This evolved over the years, and now I can see how blessed I am. My brothers and I still have a very close relationship, and I know I can call on them
anytime I am in need. They are always there for me.

Now I am a grandmother, and I am grateful for the privilege to have experienced firsthand what the writer was referring to when he said, “There is a friend
that sticketh closer than a brother.” My brothers and I are close, but I have been so blessed to have Jesus with me too. There were things in my life
that even my brothers could not help with, though they might have wanted to, but Jesus always could. He has been a compassionate Friend and Guide.
I know He is always there for me, and He can meet every need I have.

Are you in need of a friend right now? Do all your friends seem to be busy or on vacation or at work? Not everyone has such wonderful brothers as I have,
but we can all know the Friend that sticketh even closer than a brother. Call on Jesus; He will not disappoint you. He is always available and He has
promised to take care of your need.
