The Book of Miracles
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. – John 21:25
Mystery, Adventure, Religion, General Fiction, History, and Cooking were just a few of the subtitles that identified
the thousands of books lining the massive shelves around me in the used bookstore. More books were spilling over from paper sacks that were placed
haphazardly on the floor. I had never seen so many books packed together in such a small place.
Searching through this fascinating store, my mind began to think on what the Apostle John had written about the multitude of miracles that Jesus performed.
He said that if each one were recorded in writing, the world would not be able to contain all the books of Jesus’ miracles. Can you imagine how many
books that would be? Thinking about the aisles and aisles of books in that store, it is hard to fathom that Jesus has performed enough miracles to
fill up all of them—and this is just one store!
Jesus has already answered so many prayers for individuals that it is difficult to comprehend, and yet, He is not done! He is the same today as He was
when He walked on earth, and He is still ready and willing to work on behalf of those who will call on Him. Our Savior will answer whatever need we
might have; even the most difficult situations we face are small to Him. Ours could be the next on His long list of answered prayers!
The number of books that actually record the miracles of Jesus are small in comparison to the many other books in existence. However, one of them—the
Bible—is the most published book in the world, and also the most precious book in the world. In it we can read again and again of the wondrous
acts of love Jesus performed while here on earth. Let’s rejoice in the miracles Jesus has already done, and the ones He will continue to do in the
lives of those who serve Him.
