Songs and Praise

Fellowship with the Aberdeen Group

The Church in Aberdeen was truly blessed by the visit of our pastor and dear brother in the Lord, Rev. Isaac Adigun with his cheerful wife Sister Stella who always has a warm and encouraging smile. During their stay, they spent several days visiting brethren to encourage and pray with them. Our leader in Aberdeen, Sister Ronke Aina, has informed us about the proposed visit a week before and we were looking forward for the visit.

The Lord’s Day was particularly special, when Sister Stella startedour service with a meaningful discussion around the Sunday school lesson titled “Joseph’s Unjust Imprisonment”. We looked at Joseph’s reaction to his undeserved imprisonment and homed in on his qualities which centred on Joseph’s love and faithfulness to God. We were encouraged to aspire to learn from Joseph’s disposition; not to complain about our situations no matter how bad or difficult but to lean on Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith through prayer and supplication.

We were further blessed by the Word of Exhortation from Brother Isaac; he asked the question who would step out for God? Our Bible verse from Exodus 32:26 recounts the occasion when Moses asked a similar question to the Children of Israel “Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me”, this portion tells us that the sons of Levi came forward and remain blessed even till today for their faithfulness to God. This question equally applies to us today, as it did the Apostles of old whose influence on the lives of Christians today is unprecedented. We were all encouraged to step out of the crowd and come to the Lord’s side. Brother Isaac reminded us that Jesus did not tell us that this walk would be easy or problem free but through our consecration to God, He will provide the grace to stay faithful but we must want to serve Him. We gathered around at the altar at the end of the service to pray for courage and confidence to remain faithful to the end.

We continued the fellowship as we enjoy some light refreshment with all visitors and regular members. The visit was an encouragement to the Church as a whole to continue on the road that many have walked before us and by God’s grace will take us to Heaven at last.
